Where to begin....
We are on a never ending journey with Joshua and obtaining a diagnosis.
I guess the best place to start is the beginning. Josh was a normal pregnancy, born at 37.5 weeks and due to the scare of his rushed delivery and perceived loss of heartbeat, he was a forcep delivery. He was jaundice, and received follow ups daily and just missed the bili lamp by a day! He had trouble nursing and we sought care for that.
He seemed to develop normally as far as crawling and walking. He was not talking though. His doctor said not to worry. Boys talk later. He made noises for things and eventually made up the word "uh guh" for "milk". As an infant he also liked to stare at fans and lights.
We enrolled him in a private preschool and he was the youngest in his class. He made friends readily, even though he could not talk. We wanted further evaluation and decided to seek a private speech evaluation. So, on January 10, 2008, Josh was almost 2 1/2 when we had him evaluated. His scores were of course low and his age equivalence was as follows:
Auditory Comprehension- 1 year 9 months
Expressive Communication- 1 year 3 months
It was determined that he needed intervention.
We are far beyond answers but we will seek them until we get them.
